Pilea are extremely popular plants, with a cool minimal, chic feel, they’re at home in any contemporary abode. They have many common names; Pancake Plant, Coin Plant, and the Friendship Plant - they are typically gifted and shared, as they’re so easy to propagate.

Native to Southern China, they are a perennial evergreen succulent belonging to the family Urticaceae. Being a succulent, it’s important not to over-water these beauties, as they retain water in their leaves.

Pilea are part of our Pet-Friendly Range, and are not toxic for people and pets.

Pilea require a bright well-lit space and can handle some direct sun. It won’t enjoy being in a shady low light spot.

Avoid over-watering this succulent, allow the soil to dry out very slightly in between waterings. You can test it with your fingertips to see how the soil feels. On average every 2-3 weeks will suffice, reducing that down during colder months. We advise feeding this plant with fertilizer once a month during the summer growing period.

Pilea love humidity! So mist it a few times a week to keep its glossy leaves happy.
