About the Banana Plant

The Musa Dwarf Cavendish, or Banana Tree is a sublime conversation piece. While it may seem like an unusual choice as an indoor plant, these fruit-bearing trees have lived happily indoors for over 100 years; a popular plant grown in the conservatories and green houses of the Victorian upper class.

A perfect example of celebrating ones perfect imperfections, the Dwarf Cavendish produces stunning, but delicate, broad leaves that split to allow light and air to pass through. During the growing season these plants are exceptionally rewarding and are capable of producing new leaves fortnightly given the right conditions.

Your Banana Tree currently lives in a 34cm diameter nursery pot.

They are roughly 100-120cm tall.

Whilst we maintain the best standard possible, plants can vary slightly from the photograph from season to season.

Care Guide

The Banana Plant thrives best in bright warm areas with direct or indirect sunlight. This plant is capable of tolerating shade but the rate of growth and size of the leaves may decrease.

Check the compost regularly, watering the plant whenever the top 2-3 inches dry out. This plant requires regular watering, particularly if it is living in a very bright, sunny spot. Avoid overwatering, particularly in the winter months.

Regular feeding during the growing season will support the production of new foliage. Keep in a warm room as these plants dislike colder conditions.

Banana Plants are non-toxic to both humans and pets and are therefore part of our Child & Pet-Friendly Collection.

Your Musa Dwarf Cavendish - Banana Plant is capable of growing several meters tall with time and the right care and attention.
