About the Bird's Nest Fern

Forgiving fronds - Bird's Nest Fern are a vibrant, glossy plant that is very easily maintained. They’re happy in a medium-light environment, ideal for shadier spots in your home.

With their elongated, ruffled fronds sprouting out the centre point, this plant exudes an earthy, forest feeling. This plant’s decorative appearance makes it a favourite here at Clay, not to mention it's forgiving nature in terms of maintenance and care.

Native to the tropical forests of Asia, this fern can also be found in Northern America. They are epiphytic, which means they like to grow on the surface of something, like a tree or a larger plant.

Your Bird's Nest Fern currently lives in a 12cm diameter nursery pot.

They're 20cm in height from pot base to leaf tip and can reach a height of 1.2m and a spread of 90cm with the right care and attention.

Whilst we maintain the best standard possible, plants can vary slightly from the photograph from season to season.

Care Guide

This plant prefers moderate to bright light. It can handle some low lighting. Direct sunlight may harm its leaves.

Water little and often. Your Bird's Nest Fern plant doesn't like to dry out too much. Keep the soil moist with warm water. Placing this plant in a shower room can be beneficial as it loves a warm, humid environment.

Bird’s Nest Ferns love high humidity, and damp conditions so misting regularly is advised. Try to keep them away from dry areas like radiators and stoves. Water this plant around the base and not directly in the centre.

Aspleniums are considered to be non-toxic to humans and pets and are part of our Child & Pet Friendly Collection.

Your Asplenium Nidus - Bird's Nest Fern can reach a height 1.2m meters and spread of 90cm with time and the right care and attention.
