About the Alocasia Stingray

The Alocasia Stingray is such an interesting indoor plant, theatrical foliage curls outward, creating a spoon shaped leaf. This house plant gets its name from the pointed tail that reaches out from each leaf, and curls around as if attempting to hook onto something. Zebra striped stalks are equally as impressive, this indoor plant is sure to be a talking point in your home.

Natively grown in tropical rainforests of Asia, this house plant loves hot, damp environments. In the wild, its leaves can stretch up to 1 meter in width.

Your Alocasia Stingray plant currently lives in a 17cm diameter nursery pot and are roughly 70cm from pot base to leaf tip.

Whilst we maintain the best standard possible, plants can vary slightly from the photograph from season to season.

Care Guide

This indoor plant will thrive best in a bright, well-lit space. Avoid intense, direct sunlight as this can scorch their leaves. Equally, avoid low light settings as this can stunt growth.

Water your Alocasia Stingray little and often. Keep the soil moist and avoid letting this house plant dry out completely. This indoor plant loves humidity and warm temperatures.

These plants tend to go dormant during the winter months in response to the colder temperatures, resulting in them dropping some or all of their leaves. Continue to keep the compost moist even if there is no visible growth above the surface, when the weather gets warmer the plant should begin to grow again.

These plants are considered to be toxic if ingested so it is best to keep them out of reach of curious children and pets.

Your Alocasia Macrorrhiza - Stingray Plant can reach a height of 1-1.2 meters with time and the right care and attention.
