About the Alocasia Giant Taro

Flaunting broad leaves with a true tropical appeal, the Alocasia Giant Taro plant epitomizes what many seek out when creating that jungle aesthetic. Whilst modest in size now, with time and adequate sunlight, this indoor plant can produce leaves that span over 3 feet in diameter. A true statement house plant.

These indoor plants hail from southeast Asia and Australia predominantly and are now exceptionally common on the Polynesian Islands due to their historic cultivation as a food source. Their corms, or stems, can be peeled and boiled as a rich source of carbohydrates and vitamins.

Your Alocasia Giant Taro currently lives in a 17cm nursery pot.

They're 70cm in height (Pot base to leaf tip).

Whilst we maintain the best standard possible, plants can vary slightly from the photograph from season to season.

Care Guide

This indoor plant prefers a bright space, but avoid intense direct sunlight as this can scorch the leaves. They are capable of surviving in moderate light also.

Water your Giant Taro on a regular basis during the growing season, allowing the top few inches of soil to dry out between waterings.

Alocasias enjoy occasional fertilizing during the growing season to enable them to produce their large leaves. Occasional dusting of the leaves will also aid this house plant to best use the sunlight available to it.

Despite their edible corms, these plants are considered to be toxic if ingested so it is best to keep them out of reach of curious children and pets.

Your Alocasia Macrorrhiza - Giant Taro can reach a height of 2-3 meters with time and the right care and attention.
