Calathea Ornata are an alluring, interesting specimen, with their dark green glossy foliage, and rich purple underneath. Each leaf is decorated with pink fishbone markings, they certainly are a statement plant.
Native South America, they belong to the family known as Prayer Plants or Maranta Plants. Calathea make for some of the most beautiful tropical plants out there.
They’re pretty tolerant and can handle most moderate light conditions. They enjoy plenty of humidity and misting - similar to their native tropical environment.
Requires a bright, well-lit space but can handle moderate light. Avoid direct sunlight which may harm the leaves.
Water little and often, they like damp soil but not drenched. Check on it once a week, you can test its moisture levels by placing your finger in the soil.
This plant likes high humidity, mist it a few times a week.
